Fertility preservation means saving your eggs when they’re at the healthiest and most viable. If you’re not ready to have a baby right now but want to keep the option open for later, fertility preservation can save your healthiest eggs for later when you need them.
The Fertility Center of Orlando offers egg harvesting and freezing along with a variety of other procedures to help you have a child on your own time and in your own way.
There are a number of different reasons that women might opt for fertility preservation. These include:
AGE
You produce the best quality and quantity of eggs before the age of 30. From 30–35, quality and quantity decline, and after 35, that decline sharply steepens. Because of this, it’s generally best to freeze your eggs as early as possible. But, you can still freeze your eggs later. It may, however, take two or more cycles to get enough mature eggs.
MEDICAL REASONS
There are a variety of medical reasons that may lead you to choose fertility preservation, such as planned cancer treatment, ovary removal surgery, or gender transition. Or, you may have a chronic condition like endometriosis that doesn’t respond to laparoscopy.
Fertility preservation isn’t limited to women. Men may opt to freeze and bank their sperm to ensure that they have the option to father a child later.
