Ovulation Induction in Orlando
Ovulation induction medications stimulate the development and release of the eggs from your ovaries.
Ovulation induction medications, commonly known as fertility drugs, are used to stimulate the follicles in your ovaries to produce one or more eggs in a cycle. The growth and development of the follicles are monitored using ultrasound. When the follicles reach maturity your doctor will instruct you to trigger ovulation so that procedures like intrauterine insemination or timed intercourse can be performed. Several kinds of fertility drugs are available, and it may take a few cycles to determine the treatment that works best for you.
Commonly used medications that stimulate follicle (egg) development.
Clomid
Clomid is the most commonly prescribed fertility drug to help induce ovulation. It is taken in tablet form and may be used if you have infrequent or irregular cycles. The most common side effects are headaches, blurred vision, and hot flashes.
Letrozole
In some cases Dr. McNichol may recommend Letrozole as an alternative to Clomid. Most patients do not have any adverse effects or bothersome side effects when using Letrozole. Early data suggests that the success rates with Letrozole may be slightly better than with Clomid.
Follicle stimulating hormone
These medications simulates the natural hormone, FSH and require subcutaneous injection. They are typically prescribed when treatment with chlomiphene or Letrozole has been unsuccessful. These medications are far more potent than are the oral fertility drugs and require more intense monitoring while taking them. They are the most common medications used for ovulation induction for invitro fertilization. The most common side effect is enlarged ovaries, which may cause abdominal pain. Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), is a rare but serious side effect. FSH is available as Follistim, Gonal-F, Menopur, and Bravelle.
Other Medications
Human chorionic gonadotropins (HCG) –is an injectable medication used to cause ovulation once your follicles are developed and your eggs are mature. HCG is used to induce ovulation for invitro fertilization as well as intrauterine insemination.
GnRH analogs (leuprolide, Lupron, Antagon) – these medications are usually used with FSH, and HCG so that Dr. McNichol can control every step of your follicle growth and development. Most GnRH analogs are given by injection. Common side effects include hot flashes, headaches, insomnia, mood swings, and decreased libido.

I just wanted to say how amazing me and my husband felt at the appointment on 1/24/20 and we are so thankful that Joanne was able to get me in so fast as I was and am still devastated of my experience. At least we feel loved with you all and Dr. McNichol is very kind, welcoming and explained a lot to us that was very helpful and educational!!! Dr. McNichol is very comforting and easy to talk to. He is very knowledge and professional with the IVF processes.(The best in my opinion) His staff and him make the journey easy and pain free. After the first IVF Doctor I was convinced I would never do the procedure. Then I cam across Dr. McNichol online and after our first appointment and talking to him I changed my mind and was excited about doing it. Now my wife is pregnant with twins. He crosses all his T's and dot's all the I's. He makes sure everything is right and puts you in the best position to be successful. This is something I really appreciated. Words can't express how pleased and happy we are with Dr. Mchichol and his staff.

Dr. McNichol and his staff are amazing. He understands the ups and downs of the process and he understands how this impacts our lives. We went to a previous doctor in Tampa, and that doctor was cold and uncommunicative regarding our questions and we were unsuccessful with him as well. With Dr. McNichol not only were all our questions and concerns taken care of, but we were successful in becoming pregnant. He and his staff are patient and very caring. I highly recommend Dr. McNichol.

I wish there were ten stars available to give to this practice. I have never experienced such caring and compassionate staff that treated me and my husband just like family. I work in the healthcare field and Dr. McNichol and his staff go above and beyond. You can tell from the very first visit that they are passionate about what they do and have a bedside manner that is top notch. The care and concern with each lab result, ultrasound and phone call is beyond amazing. There is no mistaking why this practice is so highly thought of and recommended. This is the only practice that I would recommend!!!!

Dr. McNichol’s practice is amazing. They all actually truly care about helping you get a family. They don’t mind answering all of your questions and taking the time to make sure you understand everything so you can be involved in your treatment plan. Dr Nichols is amazing. I have finally found a doctor who is actually understanding my infertility journey. I went to two previous doctors , and my experience with them wasn't that good. As someone who is in the medical field and works with different doctors on a daily basis , I think that it's worth to always try a doctor who is willing to help you succeed on your journey. Dr Nichols started me with the least invasive treatments to see how my body responded compared to one of my previous doctors who automatically offered me to have another surgery . Which I didn't want to , when I questioned him he said because my insurance will pay for the surgery not treatments . If anyone out there is looking for an infertility doctor, I strongly recommend doctor Nichols . In addition the entire staff was amazing, and answered all my questions and concerns. Today was my first consultation with Dr. McNichol. I switched from a different office who treated me like a number. My experience with Dr. McNichol was so amazing. He was so sweet, informed my husband and I with everything we need to know. He made us feel like he really cared and was very honest with what we should do, etc. I’m so excited to move forward with this office. The office is also beautiful and the nurses were very kind.

We LOVE Dr. McNichols and his staff. He has seen us at the beginning of all 3 of our pregnancies and we couldnt be more pleased with his services. Having worked with one of the larger clinics in Orlando previously, Fertility Center of Orlando was a breath of fresh air. The entire staff is clearly very invested in the outcomes of your procedures. They're obviously very passionate about what they do. Another large clinic we went to previously had a window of time they'd give you where they might call you. If you missed that call, then you just didn't get to talk to someone that day. At Fertility Center of Orlando, Dr. McNichol gave us his cell phone number and we could actually text message him when we had a question. I've never met another doctor who provides that level of support to you. Going through these procedures can be stressful and overwhelming. The entire staff here supports you through each step of the way and makes the process so much more enjoyable.

I have never enjoyed more going to a doctors office on the regular. The office staff is so friendly and will go out of their way to help you out. Dr Mcnichol took the time to thoroughly explain the fertility process with both my husband and I and has taken the time to answer any questions that I have each visit. He also goes out of his way every step of the way. Calling me on a weekend with results, helping find the cheapest solutions, and coming in on a weekend. I've never meet a more compassionate understanding and experienced doctor.You can really tell that the entire staff really cares for you and just wants to help you anyway that they can through every step. This is my first time using a fertility doctor and I was initially terrified because I was not sure what to expect. But I have enjoyed my experience and most important it has given me hope that I can eventually conceive. I honestly feel so lucky that I found this office and highly recommend.read more

I have never been so impressed with a doctor!! Dr. McNichol was extremely thorough down to his drawings explaining everything to me in full detail! He is the first doctor to actually sit and explain everything to us and that made me feel very special! I have complete confidence in him and his practice to help me through this journey. one of the things I really appreciated was that they understand how critical things like getting results can be. We were so please that the doctor called us themselves and left a message in the evening. It was clearly after hours but they made the time to get us the results. Even better the very next morning he called me back and explained my results, answered questions and offered me solutions. There are a lot of doctors in town but when you find one that understands the human connection, that’s a keeper.

Dr. McNichol is a phenomenal doctor! I started going to him after hearing great things about him from other patients. He has made himself available to me on weekends and after office hours to answer questions and ensure everything along the way is going smoothly. Everyone at the office was very nice and professional. During my consultation with Dr. McNichol he explained everything to me. I am a cash paying patient and lives 1 hour 30 min out so he made sure everything that he was going to do was necessary for my situation. Dr.Mcnicols is an amazing doctor. Is is very compassionate. You just wont find a better infertility doctor. He had some office issues but has replaced those and now I feel things run much better. I haven't got my rainbow baby yet, but feel good about the future. Best advise to anyone in my shoes would be start with all testing, including ERA. Good luck!

Dr. McNichol is very diligent and patient with you and your concerns. He takes his time answers all your questions. He will call you at home to check up on you, depending we’re you are in the process. He takes the time to drawl you pictures to explain the unknown as needed. The office is very professional and quick to take care of your needs by phone or by email.

I have been to various fertility facilities for treatment but of them all , fertility center of Orlando was the only one I felt comfortable and open to express my concerns. The doctor was professionally elaborate and carefully gave recommendations that align with his patients' options. It is easy to get access to the place but mostly when i get inside there , I totally like what I see: neatly and nicely organized and very customer_oriented .I will recommend it to anyone looking for a place for great care and service.

This is absolutely the best physician's office that I have ever been to. From my very first appointment 6 yrs ago, my experience here has been wonderful. Every staff member within the practice has been friendly and compassionate. I have never felt like a number. Dr. McNichol and his staff are always supportive and there to answer questions. During stressful or difficult times, it is comforting to have a supportive team behind you who are rooting for your success. I wouldn't trust anyone else with something so important.
